WebSafe provides each account a unique encryption key (Master Key) and encrypts your information in transit across the Internet and while stored on our secure servers.
Data in transit is encrypted using 128 bit SSL and at rest using AES-256 bit encryption. SSL is the accepted standard for data delivery over the Web. AES-256 bit encryption is the most secure encryption algorithm applied today and the US Government concluded that it is sufficient to protect classified information up to the TOP SECRET level.
Other steps we have taken to secure your data include:
Certified as Hacker Safe - Each day, ScanAlert tests and certifies WebSafe as passing the FBI/SANS Internet Security Test. The "Hacker Safe" certification means that WebSafe "meets the highest security scanning standards of the U.S. Government".
Reliable Data Center - WebSafe servers are located in a facility leased from Southern Telecom, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE - SO). This site serves as a carrier hotel for major telecom vendors and serves as a host site for Southern's IT operations. Important requirements met by this facility include:
Class A structure with climate-controlled environment, two separate power feeds, UPS and backup generators. Personnel access is limited to authorized users with all access being logged. Access to the center is monitored with video cameras as well as guards on a 24x7. Redundant communications provided by multiple carriers. Advanced fire protection techniques including a full HALON system.
Account locking - Multiple login attempts to your account with incorrect username and/or password indicating the possibility of "brute force" hacking will result in your account will being locked for 15 minutes and you will be alerted by email.
Automatic logout - While logged into WebSafe via browser interface, if you are inactive for over 15 minutes your session will be terminated. This helps minimize the possibility for unauthorized viewing of information should you inadvertently leave your workstation logged in and unattended.
Account access history - When you login you can view recent logins to your account. This helps you monitor and detect possible unauthorized accesses.
